ODU Easy Clean Version

ODU Steckverbindungssysteme GmbH & Co. KG from Mühldorf, Germany has developed the ideal solution for this area. The Easy- Clean version was designed from the extensive AMC (Advanced Military Connector) series. "The requirements that we had to fulfill were clearly defined, and we took on this job," reports Günter Rohr, Director Strategic Markets at ODU Steckverbindungssysteme GmbH & Co. KG. "Light, compact and rugged, with uncomplicated cleaning - this concisely sums up the specifications for this line," according to Günter Rohr.
The pressure contacts that are used allow rapid and easy cleaning of a connector side in the field. Dust, dirt and mud cannot harm this connector. All AMC connectors offer IP 68 protection with regard to the sealing of the terminal device as the standard when inserted. Depending on the design selected, this allows the device end or the open cable end to be cleaned in the field.
The Easy-Clean connectors are available in three sizes that offer various contact arrangements. The connection system has been equipped with mechanical and color coding as an extra safety option. "The combination of color and mechanical coding makes incorrect plugging practically impossible," Rohr emphasizes.
The Easy-Clean version also has special contacting. "This series uses so-called pogo pins, which are patented contacts from a Swiss company," Rohr explains. "This contacting differs from the standard in which inserting a pin into a socket closes the electric circuit. Here the touch is made using a spring-supported pin."
